Uzbek Language Programme

Uzbek is a major Turkic language spoken by over 35 million speakers across Central Asia and Afghanistan. As the most conservative Turkic language in Central Asia, Uzbek is a gateway to almost a millennium of under-utilised and under-studied primary sources. And Uzbekistan is currently experiencing rapid economic growth, unprecedented social and political change, and a thirst for international cooperation.

Uzbek is also the easiest Turkic language for an English-speaker to learn, with almost no irregularities.

Birsöz is excited to be able to offer beginner Uzbek language lessons at Wolfson College in collaboration with the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. The classes cover the four core skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
We are proud to announce a new collaboration with the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. This collaboration will allow us to strengthen our collaboration with Uzbekistan and provide a rare opportunity for Oxford's academics to do research in Uzbekistan and vice-versa.

If you wish to join the classes, please contact us to register your interest: contact@birsoz-ox.com
